The president of the Union of the Italian Missions of the Adventist Church, Pastor Gianluigi Lippolis, in the autumn of 1929, revolted an appeal to the persons in charge of the organization so that in Italy arise a school of formation for the pastors that until that moment brought themselves to Collonges Sous-Salève, Alta Savoia, France, for their formation. Ten years after, july 10 of 1939, in the session of the Executive Committee of the Division held to Berne, came authorized the opening of a school with a cycle of four years of study to Florence. Pastor Giuseppe Cupertino, returned from the Ethiopia for motive of health, unavailable to return in land of Mission for the explosion of the war, came charged to take on the direction of the rising Institution.

On October 15 of 1940, came inaugurated the first year of the course of formation for Italian pastors in the base of the Istituto Avventista di Cultura Biblica (Adventist Institute of Biblical Culture) , at Florence in via Trieste, 17. The students registered were 12, and the body teaching was composed: Director and teaching: Giuseppe Cupertino; Teaching: Helium and Anchovy Bertalot, Mario Vincentelli, Maddalena Arbore. /p>

Ended the war, the number of the pupils increased, and in 1947, in February, venne gained the property of "Villa Aurora" (villa of the XIII century), the actual place of the Istituto Avventista di Cultura Biblica. In the month of October 1947, the academic year began with 48 members to the course of formation and with 7 teachers and 8 contributors pawned in the different activity of operation of the institute.

From 1958 to 1997, to the theological course of formation they came added middle current of school and high school for the achievement of the diploma of maturity.

From 1992 it takes life the Languages Department that offers some courses of languages, art and Italian culture for foreigners.

From 2002 the Institute is host of a master in International Development managed from the Andrews University in collaboration with ADRA International.

Istituto Avventista di Cultura Biblica issues degrees in Theology recognized by the Italian Government (Legge 22 novembre 1988 - n. 516, come modificata dalla Legge 8 giugno 2009 - n. 67).
